I took a quick trip to NYC on Saturday and made sure to stop by the main branch of the public library. I’ve wanted to see the Children’s Center for years now, and it turns out to be ever cooler than I’d imagined.
I did plenty of browsing and dredged up some college French reading a translation of The Giver (Le Passeur). But the highlight was an exhibit of framed picture book illustrations from recent hits including Me…Jane, Ladder to the Moon, Henry in Love and How Rocket Learned to Read. There’s nothing quite like seeing the texture and lines of original artwork. The exhibit ends Dec. 31, so if you find yourself in NYC before then, be sure to check it out!
