I’m throwing in my hat and joining the 48 Hour Book Challenge: intense reading over a 48-hour time period, starting at 8pm today, Friday.
My goal is simply to have fun, read a ton, and still be coherent enough to blog about it.
On my teetering to-read pile:
Cold Cereal by Adam Rex
Snow in Summer by Jane Yolen
Nerd Camp by Elissa Brent Weissman
A Greyhound of a Girl by Roddy Doyle
The Grand Tour by Patricia Wrede and Caroline Stevermer
Caddy’s World by Hilary McKay
The Luck of the Buttons by Anne Ylvisaker
Jen will be reading too: her opening post is here.
Ready…set…read…
Which book are you going to read first?
Cold Cereal, for sure. It’s not every day you get to read about an evil cereal company.
Coherent blogging during the 48HBC? What is that?
I haven’t heard of the books on your list but I love Patricia Wrede so I’m going to have to check that one out. Happy reading!
You too! I have half an hour before I start–the perfect time to figure out how, and from where to tackle the tottering pile of books.
I recommend from the top or the middle, never the bottom. I’ve heard whispered rumors of book lovers being consumed whole by their collections when attempting to extract a copy from the bottom of the stack…
Great choices! Enjoy! I just finished my third book, and am taking a little break to see what others are up to. I do want to read Nerd Camp sometime…
Just finished Nerd Camp–it’s fun, and a quick read. Would make a nice transition for the end of the 48 hr book challenge.
Greyhound of a Girl is a great one for this sort of challenge–lots of snappy dialogue! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Just finished! It’s great–I wouldn’t have expected all that cheekiness and sarcasm based on the cover art and artistic title.
I enjoyed Cold Cereal, so I hope you like it too! I’m interested in seeing how you feel about the other books too!
I’m nearing the end of Cold Cereal now–hilarious. I will never feel the same about the Easter bunny or cartoon animals…
I had two (relatively short) stacks of library books I was planning to bring home from work yesterday. Alas, Cold Cereal was in the stack I forgot. But it sounds like I can definitely look forward to reading it after this weekend!
Ooh, that looks like so much fun! Too bad I missed it. And don’t keep a book-reading blog…yet.
Some people start temporary blogs just for the 48hbc weekend
You could do that next year…
